Game Description

Prince of Persia is a classic adventure platform game that has gained cult status and influenced many later productions. You control the titular prince who must navigate through a series of dungeons to defeat the malicious grand vizier Jaffar and save the imprisoned princess. You have one hour to do so. Of course, this cannot be done without avoiding traps and sword fighting with enemy swordsmen. The game was originally developed by Jordan Mechner in 1989. This game is often regarded as a precursor to cinematic platformer genres.

Gameplay

Similar to "Karateka," Mechner's first video game, Prince of Persia uses rotoscoping technique for smooth and realistic animation. For this process, Mechner used films of his brother performing acrobatics in white clothes and films about Robin Hood as references for character movements.
