Game Description
Pokémon Gold is the second installment in the Pokémon series, released on the portable Game Boy Color console. The game retained a similar formula to previous installments but introduced many new features and enhancements, making it extremely popular among series fans.
The game takes place in the Johto region, where we play as a Pokémon trainer. Our goal is to become the Pokémon League Champion, earn Gym Pokémon badges, and complete the Pokémon collection. But that's not all, as after completing the main campaign, we can also visit the Kanto region from the previous game, Pokémon Red/Blue.
Choose Your Pokémon
An extremely important novelty in the game was the ability to choose one of three Pokémon starters: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. In Gold, we can catch the legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh.
A real-time clock system was also introduced, which affected the availability of certain Pokémon depending on the time of day or night. It was an innovative element that added depth to the gameplay.
New types of Pokémon were introduced in the game, such as dark and steel, as well as 100 new creatures that could be caught and trained. This made the game even more extensive and diverse than previous installments. Both Gold and Silver are standalone games, but they have basically the same storyline and, although both can be played separately, it is necessary to trade Pokémon between these games and their predecessors to fully complete the Pokédex of each game.
Pokémon Gold received recognition for its extensive gameplay, innovations in game mechanics, and unique world. It is one of the most cherished installments in the series and remains a favorite game of many Pokémon fans.
Remake
In 2009, on the 10th anniversary of the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver, remakes titled Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver were released for the Nintendo DS.
