Description
The Little Mermaid is a licensed platform game by Capcom for NES and Game Boy, based on the 1989 Disney film of the same name.
Plot
Ariel, the little mermaid who has become human, and Prince Eric are head over heels in love. But Ariel's friends are in trouble! Ursula, the evil Sea Witch, has cast a spell on all the sea creatures. If Ursula isn't stopped, she'll take over the ocean! To save her friends, Ariel dives back into the sea and becomes a mermaid again.
Gameplay
The game starts underwater, where Ariel can shoot bubbles to trap her enemies and throw them. She can also dig through sand to find treasures and collect seashells to open treasure chests. Treasure chests contain power-ups that increase the power and range of her bubbles. Ariel can collect icons scattered throughout the levels to restore health, gain extra lives, or increase the range/power of her bubbles.
The Little Mermaid game features six stages: Coral Sea, Sunken Ship, Ice Sea, Underwater Volcano, and finally two fights in Ursula's castle. Each area has its unique treasure guarded by a boss. In the game, you'll also encounter many characters known from the Disney animated film of the same name.
