Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World
Game Description
Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World is a reissue of the classic SNES game for the portable GBA console. It's an iconic platformer, where players take on the role of Mario, who sets out to rescue Princess Peach kidnapped by the evil Bowser. Players explore diverse worlds full of mysteries, enemies, and levels, trying to rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of Bowser.
The game is a 2D platformer and differs from the original Super Mario World game, but the most noticeable change is that the game is designed for single-player only (not two-player), with Luigi now available to play in single-player mode as an alternative character. In addition to the main game, a remake of the classic Mario Bros. game has been included.
Game Plot
In Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World, you take control of Mario or Luigi, traveling through Dinosaur Land to defeat the evil king Bowser and his Koopalings, who have kidnapped Princess Toadstool (also known as Princess Peach) and trapped seven Yoshi in eggs. Players navigate the game world using the world map, which contains paths leading to action panels, fortresses, etc.
Gameplay
Super Mario Advance 2 offers classic platform gameplay, characteristic of the Mario series. Players traverse various levels, collecting coins, mushrooms, stars, and battling enemies. The game offers diverse levels with unique secrets and hidden paths, as well as allows unlocking special stages and additional challenges. Additionally, it includes several secret levels and mini-games that can be unlocked.
Differences between GBA and SNES versions
Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 on the Game Boy Advance (GBA) introduces several changes compared to the original "Super Mario World" game on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES):
- In the GBA version, Princess Toadstool is referred to as Princess Peach.
- Luigi is no longer just a palette swap of Mario, he now has an alternate appearance similar to that from Super Mario Bros. 2.
- Similar to Super Mario Advance, a remake of the classic Mario Bros. game has been included, which supports from one to four players.
- The GBA version has a more convenient game saving system.
- In the GBA version, you can obtain up to 999 lives instead of 99, and this number is saved when you turn off the system.
- The GBA version has more worlds and additional levels.
- Many people find the GBA version to be easier.
Despite these differences, many people consider both versions of the game to be equally good. Some players prefer the GBA version for its portability and additional features, while others prefer the original SNES version for its classic style and challenges.
Game Features
- Classic Mario Gameplay: A characteristic skill-based platformer, containing classic elements of the Mario series.
- Level Variety: The game features diverse worlds with unique challenges and secrets to discover.
