The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is a magical adventure, released on the Nintendo DS handheld console. The game begins when the main character, Link, along with Captain Tetra, sets sail in search of the mysterious Unknown Land. During their search, they are attacked by a sinister figure named Bellum, and Tetra is kidnapped. Link wakes up on a ship under the care of a mysterious figure named Ciela, armed with a mysterious Phantom Hourglass. The goal is to rescue Tetra, uncover the secrets of the Unknown Land, and defeat the sinister Bellum.

Phantom Hourglass maintains the characteristic gameplay style of The Legend of Zelda series while offering innovative use of Nintendo DS features. A unique element of the game is touch screen control, allowing for drawing paths on the map, solving puzzles, and executing precise attacks.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass has two main gameplay modes: sailing between islands and exploring islands and their dungeons. During land exploration, Link discovers and uses many items, including the classic boomerang, bow, and bombs. During sailing, the game displays a map of the area on the top screen of the Nintendo DS, and on the bottom touch screen, a top-down 3D view of Link and his immediate surroundings.

The game also introduces a variety of interesting puzzles and intuitive touch screen options. Using the stylus is very simple - players can tap on the display to move Link; there is also an option to use the stylus as a weapon. In the United States, it was the fifth best-selling game in the month of its release, with 262,800 copies sold. By March 2008, 4.13 million copies of "Phantom Hourglass" had been sold worldwide.
