Description of the game Battle City

For all players - young and old, who like tanks, the game Battle City was created. The game is simple, intuitive, and accessible to people of all ages. Describing the plot of the game in two words, we can say that we drive a tank and destroy other tanks. It may seem banal, but it's so addictive. The player has two priorities in each mission. Namely, protecting their base, which is represented by an eagle surrounded by a wall, and eliminating 20 enemy tanks moving around the arena. There are several types of enemy tanks, differing not only in appearance but also in resistance to damage. To ensure smooth destruction and a lot of joy, we collect various power-ups, of which there are several types. So the star causes our tank to grow in strength, gain faster shooting, and greater resistance to damage, the grenade symbol destroys enemy units on the map, and the tank icon gives us one extra life. Moreover, we can also collect a force field for our vehicle providing us with temporary invincibility or even fortification upgrades for our base.

Gameplay

The rules of the game are simple - controlling the tank, we must destroy the tanks of our opponents, not allowing ourselves to be killed and not allowing them to reach and shoot down our base, marked on the board with the symbol of an eagle. The game consists of 35 levels during which we control a tank not only to defend our own base (in the form of an eagle) but also to destroy all enemies on the board.

In Battle City, there are several types of enemies, specifically - several types of tanks. Some are faster, some more durable. Destroying enemy machines is sometimes rewarded with power-ups. It can be an extra life, gradual increase in combat potential (one star makes us shoot faster, two - that we shoot double, three - we can pierce through steel), a bomb eliminating all opponents on the screen, a clock freezing their movements, or a shovel transforming the walls surrounding the base into steel (for a limited amount of time).

Battle City was one of the first games to have a multiplayer mode, where two people could play together at the same time. To clarify, it was co-op, in which we cooperate with a friend to defend the base from attack.

Level editor

Besides the standard "campaign" and multiplayer mode, the game also has a level editor for those who want to create their own levels. You can use all the elements available during regular gameplay. Unfortunately, the fruits of labor cannot be saved in any way.

Summary

Battle City/Tank 1990 was one of the most recognizable and iconic games on the legendary Pegasus console in Poland. Almost everyone who has ever played games knows and associates this game today.
