Bee 52
Game Description
Bee 52 is a charming arcade game released by Codemasters for the NES in 1992, where you play as a cute bee with big eyes named Buzz. Your goal is to collect nectar from flowers to produce honey in the hive. Your goal is to collect nectar from flowers, avoid dangers, and defend your hive from insects and other threats. The game is full of charm and captivates with its simple yet addictive gameplay.
The gameplay in Bee 52 combines arcade and shooter elements. You must traverse levels, collecting flowers containing nectar while avoiding attacks from enemy insects. Your bee has limited energy, so you must be careful. Additional challenges include various terrain difficulties and obstacles such as caterpillars, spiders, or water that hinder nectar collection. Fortunately, our brave bee is not defenseless - it can shoot forward and sting enemies.
The game is divided into 12 levels: the first four in the backyard, the next four in the swamp, and the last four in the house. Traps and enemies are added on each level, from ants, spiders, beetles, to dragonflies and "flytraps" on later levels.
Players must find and collect nectar from many flowers scattered throughout the level and return to the hive after visiting three flowers to add honey to the jar. The level is completed when the jar is full. For levels 3 to 12, this requires visiting each flower.
Bee 52 is a side-scrolling game. You control the bee with the pad up, down, left, and right over enemies and through holes. Players can shoot enemies straight ahead with the A button or use the B button to sting enemies from above. Bee 52 can find power-ups such as a super stinger with increased range or more powerful shots, either by killing a special firefly, whose appearance is random, or by visiting certain secret holes scattered throughout the levels.
You'll also encounter a little insect named Junior, who, when found, will continuously orbit Bee 52. If the bee is hit, Junior will be sacrificed instead of losing a life. Without Junior, one hit will kill Bee 52 and lose all previously found weapons.
Trivia
The Commodore 64 version was completed in 1993 but was not released due to Codemasters withdrawing from the C64 market.
