Bucky O'Hare
Game Description
Bucky O'Hare is a platform game from 1992 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, based on the comic book series of the same name. The game was developed by Konami under the direction of Masato Maegawa, who also released it in North America in January 1992 and in Europe on February 18, 1993. The graphics were created by Kaname Shindoh, Madonna Taira, and Toshiharu Furukawa, and the music was composed by Tomoko Sumiyama. Bucky O'Hare presents the titular rabbit as the captain of the Righteous Indignation spaceship, which protects the parallel universe of Aniverse. His other crew members, the duck Dead-Eye, the cat Jenny, the android Blinky, and the human Willy, are captured by Toad Air Marshall. The first four levels take place on the Green, Red, Blue, and Yellow Planets, where the crew members are imprisoned. The player starts as Bucky, and the remaining kidnapped crew members become playable after being rescued, each with different abilities and weapons. After rescuing all the crew members, Toad Air Marshall again captures the Righteous Indignation in the Magnum Tanker. The rest of the game involves rescuing each other by the crew members, blowing up the Magnum Tanker, and escaping.
Gameplay Mechanics
Bucky O'Hare is a side-scrolling shooter similar to Mega Man with elements of arcade adventure. We traverse levels, we can jump, shoot. We have several playable characters available.
Storyline
The game takes place in a parallel universe known as Aniverse, where the robot K.O.M.P.L.E.X. plans to destroy the captain of the Righteous Indignation, Bucky O'Hare. Toad Air Marshall orders the kidnapping of the Righteous Indignation crew members and imprisons them. Toad Air Marshall attacks the Indignation while they are on small transports heading to their headquarters. Only Bucky escapes. However, the crew members: android Blinky, cat Jenny, duck Dead-Eye, and human Willy DeWitt are imprisoned on four separate planets, which are the first four levels. The four planets can be played in any order. Blinky is imprisoned on the environmentally themed Green Planet, consisting of waterfalls and forests full of worms, bees, fish, and other creatures. Dead-Eye is imprisoned on the Red Planet, a stage with volcanoes and lava with stone platforms. Jenny is held on the Icy Blue Planet. Meanwhile, on the largest planet in the game - the Yellow Planet, which has laser cannons and floating asteroids, Willy is held captive.
