Game Description

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos is a classic platformer that takes players into a magical world, where they embody the titular hero, Croc, a small, green crocodile. The game offers a colorful adventure, during which Croc sets off on a journey to rescue the Gobbos – friendly creatures and defeat the sinister Baron Dante, who has kidnapped Croc's friends. Storyline of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos

One day, the king of the Gobbos, Rufus, watches the sunset when he notices a small basket drifting on the lake. The basket contains a small, screaming crocodile. The Gobbos decide to raise him as their own child, naming him Croc. Our hero is a vegetarian and mainly eats peas.

Over time, Croc and the Gobbos establish a close relationship on the island. However, one day, the evil Baron Dante appears with his minions, the Dantinis. Rufus straps a backpack to Croc's back and instructs Beany Bird to take Croc to a safe place. The villains kidnap many Gobbos, including King Rufus.

Now Croc is determined to rescue the Gobbos and King Rufus from the clutches of Baron Dante. There are four available islands in the game and one secret island, which can only be unlocked by collecting eight puzzle pieces in the game.

Gameplay

Players control Croc in a three-dimensional platforming world, traversing various levels in the Gobbo Valley islands, jumping on platforms, collecting items, and solving puzzles. Croc has many tasks to complete, such as rescuing Gobbos, defeating enemies, and bosses. The game offers a variety of levels, from jungles to ice lands, and each level is full of secrets, treasures, and challenges.

The main goal of the game is to progress through the stage and reach the gong at the end of the level to move Croc to the next one, while rescuing as many imprisoned Gobbos as possible throughout the stage.

Trivia

It's interesting to note that the game Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was originally intended to be a Nintendo 64 game, where the player controlled Yoshi from Nintendo's Super Mario series. Nintendo rejected the idea because they didn't want third-party companies to use their characters. Argonaut was so upset that instead, they created the game for competing consoles like PlayStation and Sega Saturn.
