Game Description

Hercules on PSX is an action-adventure game created by Disney Interactive Studios. Based on Disney's classic animated film, the game takes players into a mythological world where they embody the character of Hercules, the son of Zeus, during his heroic journey to gain the status of a true hero and defeat Hades, the god of the underworld.

Game Plot

The game's action begins with the moment of Hercules' birth, who is deprived of his divine power by Hades and sent to earth as a mere mortal. Hercules must prove his worth as a hero by overcoming various challenges and facing mythical monsters. Throughout the gameplay, players will accompany Hercules on his journey, helping him gain power and reclaim his status as a divine hero.

Gameplay

Hercules is a platformer game with adventure elements, where the player traverses various levels, solves puzzles, collects items, and faces enemies. Hercules possesses different abilities, such as jumping, sword strikes, and shield throws, allowing for varied gameplay. The game presents Disney's characteristic graphic aesthetic, capturing the atmosphere of the animated film.

The game is mainly two-dimensional, although in many missions, the player can move to other planes using paths or stairs. There are three difficulty levels: Beginner, Medium, and Herculean. The last two levels of the game are available only on Medium and Herculean difficulties. In Hercules, there are three rush levels, where the player must run forward through the map and avoid obstacles, unable to stop or fight.

The player's health can be increased by collecting Hercules action figures and drinking Herculade cups found throughout the game. The player's main weapon is the sword; Hercules can also punch, but it is a much more difficult way to defeat enemies. Weapon upgrades, known as Gifts of the Gods, can be found throughout the game, consisting of the Thunder Sword (shoots lightning bolts in any direction Hercules aims when selected and fired), the Fireball Sword (shoots fireballs that seek enemies on the screen when selected and fired), and the Sonic Sword (affects enemy targets at close range with a circular sonic burst when selected and fired). There is also a helmet that provides the player with a few seconds of invincibility when activated.
