Game Description

Pepsiman is an unusual and humorous action game released on the PSX console in 1999. In this original production, players take on the role of Pepsiman, a promotional character created by PepsiCo. The game offers a unique approach to gameplay, in which Pepsiman must overcome obstacles and collect cans of soda to save the world's Pepsi supply.

Plot

The game's action takes place in a world where the delivery of Pepsi is threatened, and the only one who can save it is a hero named Pepsiman. Players must traverse various locations to deliver Pepsi to hard-to-reach places, overcoming numerous obstacles and avoiding dangers along the way.

Gameplay

In Pepsiman, players control the character Pepsiman, who runs automatically forward, and the player's task is to avoid obstacles, jump, slide on ramps, and collect cans of Pepsi soda. The game focuses on quick reflexes and dexterity, and the unusual combination of humor and dynamic gameplay makes it a unique experience.

Pepsiman consists of four stages, each divided into smaller segments. The first three stages are based on real locations: San Francisco, New York, and Texas. The final stage takes place in Pepsi City.

In some stages, Pepsiman's head gets stuck inside a steel drum, reversing the controls. In other stages, Pepsiman rides a skateboard, requiring the player to avoid all obstacles. Each stage ends with a scene where Pepsiman is chased by some object, such as a giant Pepsi can.

Trivia

Although an American publisher considered acquiring the rights to release the game in the United States, the game remained exclusively in Japan. According to Uchikoshi, the game did not sell well.
