Game Description

Splatterhouse 3 is a continuation of the cult action and horror game series. The game was released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive console in 1993 and is known for its dark and brutal atmosphere. The game was released only in the USA.

Player embodies the character of Rick Taylor, who must save his family from sinister forces and creatures. The gameplay is a classic beat 'em up, where the player traverses various levels and battles hordes of enemies, using various fighting techniques.

Plot

The third part takes place five years after the events depicted in the 'second part'. Rick, after many adventures, managed to finally save his girlfriend Jennifer, and then have a son with her, make a career on Wall Street and buy a big house in Connecticut to lead a blissful life. He has already forgotten about past events, but at some point the past begins to demand its due. Rick must once again don the magical Mayan mask after monsters under the leadership of creature called Evil One haunt his home and abduct his family.

Gameplay and Nonlinearity

Splatterhouse 3 introduces several significant changes to the series' formula. There are six levels waiting to be completed here, after which you can move with greater freedom than before. Firstly, we can go back to already visited rooms if the situation requires it (we can even use the map), secondly - we move not only to the right and left, but also sideways. Time plays an important role during gameplay. It does not affect our life or death, but if in certain circumstances we linger, Jennifer and David (son) will die, and this will affect the ending (four in total). Rick can use regular punches, kicks, special attacks, and various weapons encountered along the way. The novelty is the presence of a Power Meter indicator, which we fill by collecting special orbs. If we find the right amount of them, our ward will be able to change form. In such cases, he is much stronger and has better skills, which allows him to easily deal with ordinary opponents.
