Game Description

Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiyan Densetsu is a role-playing game (RPG) set in the world of the iconic anime and manga Dragon Ball Z. Players take on the roles of characters from the anime, directing their actions throughout the events of the Saiyan Saga and the Frieza Saga. At the time of release, the Buu Saga did not yet exist, and the Cell Saga was still being developed, so unfortunately, we won't see the further adventures of our warriors. We can control the actions of Goku, Piccolo, Gohan, Yamcha, or Tien. Along the way, we'll have to face Raditz, Vegeta, Nappa, Frieza's team, and Frieza himself.

Gameplay Mechanics

The game combines turn-based combat and exploration elements. Players travel through various locations, encounter characters from the series, and engage in turn-based battles with enemies. During battles, they can choose cards representing attacks, defense, and special abilities to defeat opponents. The game is based on an extensive character leveling system and acquiring new skills. We can lose a very good card because the opponent simply counters it with their own card. The game is quite challenging. The game features a random enemy generation system - except for bosses. The game may initially discourage due to the constant need to explore the map without hitting a specific event to push the story forward.

Plot Changes - Deviating from the Anime Scenario

The game does not limit us in terms of the team. If we play well, for example, Tien will survive and fly with us to Namek, or Yamcha will help us in the fight against Vegeta. There is also a secret ending that allows us to fight Vegeta SSJ1.

Graphics

The graphical style of Dragon Ball Z: Legend of Super Saiyan faithfully reflects the anime, immersing us in the atmosphere completely. We have appropriately animated fights between characters, dynamic dodges, characteristic attacks for each character.

Music

Unfortunately, the music doesn't match the overall experience; we won't hear any familiar tunes from the Dragon Ball series. It's better to play the anime soundtrack in the background.
